10 Crytostachys Lakka Palm seeds. Cyrtostachys renda, also known by the common names red sealing wax palm and lipstick palm, is a palm that is native to Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo in Indonesia.
Sow any time of year. Soak the seeds for 48 hours preferably in a heated propagator, or on a sunny windowsill or above a radiator. Sow 6mm deep in small pots of moist seed compost mixed 50:50 with vermiculite/perlite. Place in a propagator or cover with a polythene bag and place in any other warm place (eg. on a windowsill above a radiator) and maintain at 25-30C. Many palms will produce a root before a shoot and germination can be erratic. Grow the seedlings on, re-potting as necessary. Plant in good quality compost mixed 75:25 vermiculite or perlite and place in a bright spot. Keep well watered at all times.
